How to wash an Army Duffle bag?

The duffle bag that was issued to me from gear up (surprise surprise) smells like the usual return food and stagnant smell that lots of my gear smells like. However I don't stand in want all my friggin uniforms smelling like that when I put them in there, so I was wondering what you all do to get rid of the blame terrible smells

Washing system. Use a laundry mat and not your own as the buckles might chip the porcline or dent the aluminum.

What is the white stuff (paint?) on the bottom of military duffle bags?

I've seen several duffle bags (almost always belonging to members of the USN) that have what appears to be white paint all over the bottom end and up about 6-8 inches from the bottom all the way around. What is that? Is it some species of waterproofing? We (in the Army) don't do that, so I'm not sure what the purpose is...our duffle bags get thrown around and stuck in all sorts of orientations (laying down, etc.) so it wouldn't cure unless you coated the whole thing in that stuff.

Is it paint? It looks like milky house paint.
Thanks for the answer, Sergeant...the ones I've seen were equitable plain white...no lettering or anything on them.

What you're saying makes discrimination too though. I guess I just figured my unit would palletize all of our duffles and wither-wrap it to keep it all together. Makes sense to mark it per platoon.

Can I reenlist? AWOL from Army National Guard?

I went AWOL in 2005 or 2006 before my module had orders to deploy to Iraq. The reason I left: I had a documented(with army and civilian doctors) back wrong from a 3-car accident.

One seargent had assigned another solider to help pick up my duffle bag filled with my accoutrements(really, really heavy). Another told the soldier to something goodbye my bags alone ordered me to carry them around. Even though I informed him about my injury.

I was artificial to lift all my equipment with a injured back. The pain was so aloof, and obviously I would have to endure this pain every drill, I thought I had no pick but, to go AWOL.

I did call through out the years and even came back to the unit, but they would not tell me if I was dis-charged, give me dd214's, or any communication at all on my status.

I would be willing to re-enlist, if they would acknowledge my injury.

If you are not getting anywhere with your component nor any help by going up the chain of command then I suggest you call the area of your congressman. There will be someone in his or her office in charge of military issues who may be skilful to get some answers for you.
